Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP)?
The Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) designation is a professional certification mark for financial planners conferred by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board).
Why choose an independent advisor?
Independence means we can fully exercise our entrepreneurial spirit and look for opportunities to enhance our clients’ success. We see client relationships as long-term, collaborative partnerships, and that requires accessibility, objectivity and transparency in everything we do. Independence gives us the freedom to make that a reality.
Where will my assets be held?
We recommend Schwab or Pershing to our clients for their focus on service, as well as fast, efficient trading, clearing and settlement. Of course, clients are free to choose any custodian they feel most comfortable with, and we will have the authority to manage – but not remove – those assets.
Will I have institutional oversight of my assets?
De Groote Financial Group is an SEC-registered investment advisor, and we are subject to the highest level of disclosure to financial regulatory agencies. As a fiduciary, we’re held to an even higher standard of trust and confidence, and have the legal responsibility to follow prudent investor practices as well as serve client’s best interests.
What happens to my non-investment services?
Our custodial firms offer a robust selection of services including direct deposit, web bill pay, check writing, debit cards, credit cards, etc. After reviewing these services with clients, we facilitate changes as needed.
